Digital Medicine Society Kicks Off a New Era in Aging Support with Innovative Initiative

DiMe Launches Landmark Initiative for Aging in Place

On November 7, 2025, the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) announced a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide a comprehensive framework for older adults seeking to age safely and independently within their own homes. This project, part of the Connected Health Collaborative (CHcc), aims to overcome common challenges faced by seniors, such as affordability, safety, and access to technology.

The Need for Change

Numerous studies reveal that the majority of individuals over the age of 50 express a strong desire to remain in their homes as they grow older. However, barriers such as escalating healthcare costs, insufficient safety measures, and difficulties in care coordination often hinder this aspiration. Aging at home is not only a deeply personal wish for millions of Americans, but it has also become a pressing issue on a national level, particularly with rising Medicare expenses and an overburdened long-term care system.

Jennifer Goldsack, the CEO of DiMe, emphasized the necessity of creating a dignified aging experience for older Americans. She stated, "Older Americans deserve the dignity of aging in their place of choice, supported by technology that truly works for them, their care partners, and the diverse healthcare professionals involved in their care." This initiative aims to unify a wide range of stakeholders—payers, providers, innovators, and advocates—to replace fragmented strategies with a unified, actionable, evidence-based plan promoting safe and affordable aging solutions.

The Initiative's Objectives

This launch is strategically aligned with the recent commitment from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to enhance care for Medicare beneficiaries through the utilization of digital tools and data. The initiative formed in response to a Request for Information on the Health Technology Ecosystem issued by CMS and represents a critical step toward actualizing federal goals for coordinated, technology-driven patient care.

Bringing together a diverse coalition of partners, including major organizations such as AdaptHealth, BAYADA Home Health Care, and Epic Systems, this initiative fosters collaboration across the healthcare and technology sectors. Dr. Philip Parks, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer at AdaptHealth, remarked, "This collaboration is an important step toward creating a connected care experience that gives older adults and their families better options. By merging data, resources, services, and care, we can turn vision into practical, scalable solutions that make aging at home both safe and achievable for everyone."

Collaborating for Success

The project is hosted under the CHcc, led by DiMe with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) as its dedicate partner. The initiative also coordinates with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that outcomes dovetail with national priorities for regulatory compliance and interoperability standards.

Through this collaborative effort, DiMe hopes to advance its Healthcare 2030 vision aimed at establishing a sustainable health system in the era of digital healthcare. The initiative will produce a rich suite of educational resources, including playbooks, policy recommendations, funding guidance, and real-world case studies. These materials will ensure that technology serves to augment, rather than replace, the human-centric approach integral to healthcare.

A Step Forward in Healthcare

The Digital Medicine Society stands as a pivotal player in redefining the future of healthcare. By leveraging digital technologies responsibly, DiMe aims to enhance health equity and optimize care for everyone. Their commitment to open-access resources and multi-stakeholder collaborations remains unparalleled.
