Southern California University of Health Sciences Recognized as a Top Workplace for 2026
Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) has been awarded a significant honor, being named on the 2026 Great Colleges to Work For® Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition reflects the university's commitment to promoting a positive workplace environment across various categories. It highlights what makes SCU stand out among institutions of higher education, particularly for its dedication to meeting employee needs and encouraging their growth.
The selection process for this prestigious title is rigorous and comprehensive, relying heavily on feedback from employees. Surveys were conducted among faculty, staff, and administrators to gather insights about job satisfaction, compensation, benefits, professional development, supervisory effectiveness, and trust in leadership. The results have placed SCU in the elite group of recognized institutions, demonstrating the university's strengths in these key areas.
"Receiving the Honor Roll distinction is particularly exciting because it comes directly from the voices of our employees,” stated Dr. John Scaringe, President and CEO of SCU. "Our team plays a crucial role in shaping the experiences of both our students and patients. When our employees feel supported and trusted, it enhances our collective capabilities to fulfill SCU's mission."
The 2026 survey evaluated colleges and universities across the nation, with a total of 76 institutions earning the Great Colleges to Work For recognition and only 42 making it onto the Honor Roll. SCU was assessed as one of the premier small universities, with an enrollment of 500 to 2,999 students.
Among the factors that earned SCU its Honor Roll recognition in 2026 are:
Job Satisfaction: Employees reported high levels of satisfaction with their roles and felt valued within the organization.
Support: The institution was lauded for the support it provides its staff, fostering a nurturing environment.
Compensation and Benefits: Competitive salary structures and benefits packages were acknowledged as significant factors influencing employee motivation and happiness.
Professional Development: SCU's robust offerings for personal and professional growth make it a desirable workplace, as staff members noted opportunities for advancement and learning.
Confidence in Senior Leadership: High trust levels in the administration signify strong leadership, which is crucial for a collaborative workplace culture.
Dr. Tamara Rozhon, SCU's Provost, remarked, "The academic quality of an institution cannot be separated from its workplace culture. When faculty and staff feel secure and supported, they are better equipped to focus on student success. This acknowledgment proves that we have cultivated an environment where our staff can deliver their best, enhancing our students' educational journey."
The Great Colleges to Work For® program, managed by Modern Think, is among the largest and most comprehensive workplace recognition initiatives. The 2026 results were published in a special supplement of The Chronicle of Higher Education*, and SCU's accolades further position it as a leader in creating a thriving work environment that contributes significantly to academic excellence.
