In preparation for Father’s Day 2024, Kids Line conducted a survey to explore the sentiments of fathers across the nation. The study involved 379 fathers with children aged 0 to 17, gathering compelling insights into their expectations and experiences concerning this special day. Below are the key findings and observations from the survey.
Expressions of Gratitude
An impressive 68.7% of fathers felt appreciated on Father’s Day last year. When dissecting this number, 48.3% indicated that they received expressions of gratitude from family members. This demonstrates a cultural shift toward valuing words of appreciation over material gifts. Data revealed that among those who felt remembered, personal acknowledgments held significant weight compared to presents or events.
However, it's striking to note that 25.1% of the surveyed dads felt their day was just like any other, with some commenting on not recognizing the significance of Father’s Day in their households. As one 30-something father from Tokyo stated, “I don't really care about Father’s Day; everyday is special if we're together.
