Zero Renovation Triumphs at the Renovation of the Year 2025

In an impressive display of architectural talent, Zero Renovation, operated by groove agent, has been awarded at the esteemed Renovation of the Year 2025 event organized by the Renovation Council, a general incorporated association. All three of the projects submitted by Zero Renovation received accolades, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovative design and sustainable living solutions.

About the Renovation of the Year 2025

The Renovation of the Year is an annual award aimed at highlighting outstanding renovation works throughout the year, showcasing the charm and potential of renovations to a broader audience. Awards are given across various categories based on construction costs. In the current year, a total of 206 submissions were received, with only 60 projects earning accolades. Notably, only five companies succeeded in winning more than three awards, placing Zero Renovation among the elite in the industry.

Awards for the grand prize, best project in each category, and special awards will be announced on December 11th at a ceremony set to take place at the University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus.

1. Smartly Woven Urban Home (Under 8 Million Yen Category)

This project transformed a 45-year-old used apartment using its existing infrastructure with a design philosophy centered on “stripping away the unnecessary.” The result is a well-balanced home that emphasizes both economic efficiency and comfort—creating a space where residents can enjoy a serene and minimalist daily life.

2. Uniqueness and Creativity (Under 15 Million Yen Category)

In this innovative design, the irregular shape of the rooms encourages the selection of furniture and colors that invite ongoing updates and creativity. The space, defined by white and gray tones, serves as a “canvas,” allowing the homeowner's creativity and lifestyle to naturally intertwine—a perfect reflection of personal artistic expression.

3. The Space Between (15 Million Yen and Above Category)

Designed for a couple working from home, this project explores the balance of proximity and distance. Featuring a living room facing the window, the layout creates dynamic pathways and incorporates an earthen floor, resulting in a rhythmic space filled with light, breeze, and greenery.
