UPDATER Partners with Miyazaki Prefecture for Innovative Tax Refund Initiative

Background of the Initiative

Miyazaki Prefecture, known for its ample natural resources, boasts an impressive annual average of approximately 2,500mm of rainfall—making it one of the highest in Japan. This hydric bounty, coupled with superior sunlight exposure, enables the region to effectively harness renewable energy. The Miyazaki Prefectural Enterprise Bureau is committed to leveraging these resources through the development of renewable energy ventures including hydro and solar power.

Currently, the electricity produced generates roughly 500 million kWh annually, equivalent to the yearly consumption of about 30% of households in Miyazaki. Additionally, the revenues generated are redirected back into local community projects. By including the Takachiho Hydropower Plant, UPDATER aims to broaden the impact of renewable energy access, fostering a deeper local engagement.

With ‘Minna Denryoku’, UPDATER merges energy production with consumer access, allowing users to connect directly with producers.
