The Documentary

Directed by Joao Weinle, the documentary delves into Zico's life and career, emphasizing his profound connection with Japan and the principles of samurai spirit embodied in his values of determination, humility, and discipline. The title reflects how Zico's decision-making and respectful nature resonate with Japanese culture.

Upon moving to Japan in 1991 to play for Sumitomo Metal (now known as Kashima Antlers), Zico faced significant challenges, which are explored throughout the film. The documentary not only examines his hugely impactful contribution to developing football in Japan but also features digitized footage from his personal archives, including rare clips from his illustrious career, such as the jersey he wore in the historic 1981 Toyota Cup final.

Zico has expressed a desire to share with audiences the values of unity and respect that he holds dear while also emphasizing the importance of preserving Brazil's football history and passing it on to future generations.

Comments from Zico and Director

Zico shared, "This film speaks not only about my journey as a football player but about my entire life. The emotional depth increased significantly because of my family's involvement. I hope my beloved audience in Japan can experience a piece of my life on the big screen."

Director Joao Weinle added, "Zico’s greatest legacy goes beyond goals and victories. His attention to others and passion for winning are lessons that every professional can learn from."
