High-Res Inc. Expands AI Data Centers with Ayagawa Town Facility
High-Res Inc., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is proud to announce that it will open its Ayagawa Town Data Center on March 3, 2026. This facility represents the company's fourth base and the second AI data center in the Chugoku and Shikoku region.
Repurposing a Former School
The new data center will occupy the premises of the former Ayagawa Junior High School, which was closed in March 2022. The area that was once used as a bicycle parking and sports practice space will be transformed into a modern data center equipped to handle advanced AI calculations. In addition to the data center operations, part of the school building will serve as a community space for local residents, fostering community development and engagement.
To celebrate the opening, a ceremony will be held, inviting stakeholders and media representatives. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact High-Res's public relations team. Please note that general public attendance is not permitted for this event.
Commitment to Sustainability and Local Development
High-Res Inc. has been on a mission to utilize dormant facilities, including former schools, to establish data centers that contribute to both local economies and environmental sustainability. Previous locations include Ishikawa Prefecture, Kagawa Prefecture, and Saga Prefecture, where the company has developed robust data centers that align with local characteristics. The Ayagawa Town Data Center aims to not only reduce environmental impact through innovative construction techniques but also support the Japanese government’s initiative of “Wat-Bit Collaboration,” which encourages data center decentralization and regional revitalization.
