Teamsters Drivers Strike at 10 Roads Express for Fair Contract Negotiations

Teamsters Drivers Strike at 10 Roads Express

More than 500 drivers represented by the Teamsters are currently striking against 10 Roads Express, a major private contractor for the United States Postal Service (USPS). This labor action, spanning across eight states, has emerged as a critical response to the company's alleged unfair labor practices and reluctance to engage in genuine contract negotiations.

The drivers play a vital role in sustaining USPS operations, yet they contend that their contributions have been undervalued. According to John A. Murphy, the Director of the Teamsters Freight Division, the ongoing strike reflects a collective exhaustion from unfair treatment and unrealistic contract proposals by 10 Roads Express. He stated, "Our members have had enough. They are on strike because 10 Roads Express refuses to offer a contract that recognizes our hard work and the essential service we provide."

10 Roads Express has been relied upon to transport U.S. mail, receiving substantial taxpayer funding in the process. However, despite this financial support, the company has been accused of shortchanging the very workers ensuring mail delivery remains seamless. The situation is precarious, as the strike threatens to disrupt service delivery nationwide until negotiations progress more favorably for the employees.

Keith Damguard, a driver for nine years at 10 Roads Express in Omaha and a member of Teamsters Local 554, echoed the sentiment of many when he said, "We move the mail safely and on time, but 10 Roads Express is not treating us with the fairness and respect we deserve. We are done with the unfair treatment from a company that takes millions from USPS while leaving workers behind. We will not accept anything less than what we have earned and deserve."

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters claims to represent 1.3 million hard-working individuals across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Their ongoing efforts underscore a growing trend of labor strikes seeking to assert worker rights in various industries, especially in contract negotiations.

As the situation at 10 Roads Express develops, the Teamsters' community is focused on advocating for a fair contract that acknowledges the essential services provided by these drivers, aiming for a resolution that reflects both respect and recognition.
