Huawei and Partners Reach Consensus on Monetizing 5G Experience through Mobile AI Networks
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2025, Huawei hosted the Mobile AI Summit, where key players including operators, AI ecosystem partners, and industry experts united to discuss crucial advancements in the mobile AI sector. This summit served as a platform to align thoughts on two pivotal areas: enhancing 5G-A uplink experiences and establishing network-service synergies, both deemed essential for monetizing mobile AI experiences.
The summit showcased the opening of the GSMA Foundry initiative for Mobile Networks Supporting Emerging AI, signaling operators beginning to leverage AI-centric networks to boost their revenue streams. Wen Ku, the Chairman of the China Communication Standards Association (CCSA), articulated the necessity of fostering standards and collaborative development in mobile AI technology to enhance the integration of 5G-A and AI, pivotal for the evolution of communication networks.
Several pioneering firms in the AI sector, including Rokid, MiniMax, and Unitree Robotics, shared insights on how AI service providers can lead in delivering differentiated competitive advantages and rapidly seizing new market opportunities. As AI progresses, it propels a shift from traditional interaction methods to higher engagement through multimodal interfaces, incorporating voice, video, and spatial computing, thereby enabling enriched user experiences.
Notably, the integration of artificial intelligence with 5G-A networks is critical for achieving high audiovisual bit rates and model precision. This advancement effectively reduces latency during interactions, thus supporting seamless new services, including real-time engagements that necessitate uplink speeds of at least 20 Mbps, vital for delivering high-quality AI video calling and similar applications.
Key speakers, including representatives from network operator representatives and Ookla, discussed the strategic implementation of AI within network optimization and expressed the need for comprehensive adoption of AI technologies. This transformative phase is set to reshape mobile networks and the broader landscape of the mobile industry, enabling operators to provide tailored services across various sectors while supporting businesses in their digital transformation.
Participants at the summit unanimously agreed that uplink, latency, and stability are paramount factors in evaluating mobile AI network capabilities. Huawei, as a leading 5G-A technology provider, shared insights from its GigaBand solution portfolio. This innovation, supported by optimizations like AIR interface source pooling, empowers operators to transition toward a dynamic network architecture capable of ensuring service level agreements (SLA) and adapting to diverse service demands ranging from live broadcasts to AI-powered assistants and cloud gaming.
One prominent example of GigaBand's success is its deployment in Hong Kong, which facilitated multiband sharing of 4G/5G, maintaining consistent 4G user experiences while achieving a 2.28-fold increase in 5G throughput. This development is particularly beneficial for operators striving to build efficient, intelligent, and low-carbon 5G standalone networks.
As GigaBand and other innovative technologies are continually enhanced, mobile AI is projected to become a driving force behind increased revenue within the mobile industry, ushering in a new era of intelligent services available to users everywhere. MWC Shanghai 2025, taking place from June 18 to 20 in Shanghai, China, provided Huawei the opportunity to showcase its latest products and solutions, affirming its commitment to exploring AI advancements in reshaping telecom services, infrastructure, and operations for the future. As commercial adoption of 5G-Advanced accelerates in 2025, Huawei is actively collaborating with global operators and industry leaders to harness AI innovations, spur new revenue sources, and facilitate a transition toward an intelligent world.
