Bybit Restores Full Access for Indian Users, Emphasizing Commitment to Compliance in Cryptocurrency

Bybit Restores Full Access for Indian Users

Bybit, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has made significant strides in its operations in India by fully restoring access to its app for users. As of September 9, 2025, Indian users can once again utilize the Bybit app available on both the App Store and Google Play, marking a crucial milestone in Bybit's long-term commitment to the Indian market.

The restoration of app access comes alongside a gradual revival of services on the Bybit website, projected to be entirely online within the next three to four days. This initiative showcases Bybit's endeavors towards regulatory alignment, reinforcing its dedication to trust, transparency, and security for its ever-growing Indian user base.

In early 2025, Bybit began its regulatory processes by registering as a reporting entity with the Financial Intelligence Unit of India (FIU-IND) in January, ensuring all operations comply with the Indian Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This compliance has enabled the return of several services, including spot trading, derivatives, options, and copy trading, complete with stringent Know-Your-Customer (KYC) protocols and enhanced security measures.

The platform initially resumed operations on February 25, 2025, allowing certain users access to trading functionalities. However, the full functionality of both the website and the app required extensive discussions with regulatory authorities. These discussions have been successfully concluded, paving the way for Bybit to resume normal operations.

Ben Zhou, Bybit's co-founder and CEO, stated, “India represents one of the most promising markets for digital assets globally. We are excited to restore normal business operations and reaffirm our commitment to providing Indian users with secure, transparent, and high-quality cryptocurrency experiences. This is not a comeback but a new chapter for Bybit in India.”

Vikas Gupta, Country Manager for Bybit India, remarked, “This is a significant milestone for Bybit India. We are thrilled to offer Indian users a smooth and compliant trading experience. Our vision extends beyond trading; we aim to grow India’s rapidly evolving crypto ecosystem through public education initiatives, strategic partnerships, and community-engaged programs.”

Bybit's expanding presence is further reinforced by its role as the title sponsor of the India Blockchain Tour 2025, which began on June 28 in Hyderabad. The tour will continue with its next leg, Metamorphosis – India Blockchain Tour, scheduled for September 27-28 in New Delhi. Additionally, Bybit has launched the World Series of Trading (WSOT) 2025, comprising various campaigns offering new customers welcome bonuses and attractive rewards such as cars, iPhones, and more.

Founded in 2018, Bybit serves a global community of over 70 million users, redefining openness in the decentralized world. Bybit focuses on Web3 development and collaborates with leading blockchain protocols to forge a robust infrastructure and propel on-chain innovations. Known for its secure custody, diverse marketplaces, and intuitive user experiences, Bybit bridges the gap between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi), unlocking the full potential of Web3 for developers, creators, and enthusiasts.
