Dr. Nathaniel Nataneli Joins OCLI Vision

OCLI Vision, a prominent name in ophthalmology, has recently announced the addition of Dr. Nathaniel Nataneli to its esteemed team as a cornea specialist. With a robust background in eye care spanning over thirteen years, Dr. Nataneli's expertise is set to enhance the provision of advanced ophthalmic services at various OCLI locations including Astoria, Garnerville, and West Nyack, where he will commence seeing patients from January 26, 2026.

Dr. Nataneli's areas of specialization encompass a wide array of corneal disorders and surgeries. He is well-versed in conducting complex cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). With his surgical finesse, he also handles ocular surface reconstruction and refractive surgical procedures. His commitment to patient care is reflected in his personalized approach, utilizing cutting-edge diagnostic tools and surgical methods to cater to complex corneal conditions such as infections and tumors.

Before joining OCLI Vision, Dr. Nataneli was honored to serve as an Attending Physician at BronxCare Health System, where he led the Cornea Service amidst a bustling academic setting. His passion for teaching was exemplified as he took on the role of Residency Program Director for BronxCare’s ophthalmology residency program from 2016 until 2019. This entailed his responsibility in molding the next generation of ophthalmologists. Most recently, he has been offering comprehensive corneal services at Fromer Eye Centers.

Dr. Nataneli's academic journey showcases a commendable pursuit of excellence. He earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, following an undergraduate degree in history, magna cum laude, from Queens College. His initial training included an internal medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital, which led to a residency in ophthalmology at BronxCare Health System, where he excelled as Chief Resident. To deepen his knowledge further, he undertook a specialist fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island.

Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Nataneli has been persistent in his endeavors, receiving accolades for his contribution to education and clinical practice. He has bagged the Attending of the Year Award for Excellence in Education for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2017, reflecting his commitment to teaching and guiding peers in the field. His research work is extensive, with publications in prominent medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA Ophthalmology, alongside numerous authored chapters addressing topics from dry eye disease to corneal disorders.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Nataneli is an active participant with professional bodies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, contributing to the evolution of eye care practices in the U.S.
