M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust Name Brian Green New Chief Investment Officer

M&T Bank Corporation has made an important appointment within its leadership ranks, announcing that Brian Green will step into the role of Chief Investment Officer for both M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust, effective immediately. This strategic move underscores the bank's commitment to enhancing its investment management capabilities amidst a dynamic market landscape.

In his new position, Green will lead the Asset Management team, a group composed of seasoned economists, strategists, researchers, and portfolio managers dedicated to providing insightful investment solutions to both Wealth and Institutional clients. His responsibilities include shaping the investment philosophy and overseeing the implementation of investment strategies that align with the evolving needs of clients. Reporting directly to Lisa Roberts, the Head of Wealth Management at Wilmington Trust, Green succeeds Tony Roth, who is set to retire at the end of this year.

Roberts expressed confidence in Green’s capabilities, noting the increasingly complex investment landscape that clients face today. “Providing them with sophisticated advice and thoughtful investment strategies is critically important,” she stated. Roberts emphasized Green’s extensive experience in developing tailored investment solutions for diverse clients, positioning him well to lead the Asset Management team into its next phase of growth.

Green is not new to the world of investment management; he carries with him over 30 years of rich experience in both Investment Management and Private Wealth. Most recently, he served as Chief Investment Officer of Private Wealth at Glenmede Trust Company where he was responsible for crafting investment policies, asset allocations, and portfolio construction strategies. His impressive background extends further back, including positions at BNY Mellon and JPMorgan Chase, where he managed equity and multi-asset strategies and provided insights for complex client relationships.

With the goal of building on a strong foundation, Green expressed his eagerness to join the esteemed Asset Management team at M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust: “The Asset Management team has built its reputation on the quality of its judgment, the rigor of its investment thesis, and the consistency of its service to clients. I am honored to join this group and look forward to extending that record and delivering the uncompromising level of insight and service that clients expect.”

Green’s qualifications are formidable, holding dual Master of Business Administration degrees from both Columbia Business School and London Business School, along with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance from the University of Arkansas. He is also a CFA Charterholder, underscoring his expertise in the financial domain.
