Buffalo Donates 12,000 Docking Stations to Waseda University for Student Learning Support

Enhancing Learning Support: Buffalo's Contribution to Waseda University

In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the learning experience for new students, Buffalo Inc., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has generously donated 12,000 units of its USB Type-C docking station series, the LUD-U3-CGC, to Waseda University. This donation comes as universities increasingly adopt digital solutions in education, with the aim of supporting students who will enroll in April 2026.

As education continues to evolve, the use of laptops in various aspects such as lectures, assignment submissions, research, and job hunting has become indispensable. The growing diversity of learning environments has introduced new challenges, notably the increase in peripherals that need to be connected to computers and the complexity of switching between them. Understanding these challenges, Buffalo's donation aims to create a more comfortable learning atmosphere where students can effectively utilize their computers.

The mission is simple yet powerful: "To ensure students can experience a safe and comfortable academic life." Buffalo is committed to supporting the next generation in focusing on their studies within a rapidly evolving digital learning framework, which is increasingly integrated with AI and data utilization.

On April 20, 2026, a presentation ceremony was held at Waseda University, where Buffalo’s Executive Officer, Kazuki Yokoi, officially presented the donation of 12,000 docking stations to Vice President Miho Saito. The university expressed their gratitude for this generous contribution, recognizing its potential to improve the academic experience for incoming students.

Buffalo's docking station, the LUD-U3-CGCBK, allows users to connect multiple peripherals—including monitors, keyboards, and mice—using a single USB Type-C cable, significantly reducing the complexity of managing connections. The inclusion of a wired LAN port ensures that computers without built-in LAN capabilities can achieve high-speed wired internet connectivity. Moreover, the docking station supports USB Power Delivery (USB PD), allowing laptops to be charged while simultaneously using connected displays and engaging in data transfer with USB devices.

This initiative by Buffalo is part of a broader commitment to support ICT (Information and Communication Technology) solutions that enhance the learning environment for students. By collaborating with educational institutions like Waseda University, Buffalo aims to foster a technological ecosystem where academia can thrive, ensuring that students receive the tools necessary for a successful educational journey.
