Air Premia Unveils Enhanced Economy Seating for a Better Travel Experience
Air Premia Enhances Comfort in Economy Class
Air Premia, recognized as South Korea's only hybrid airline, has made a significant stride towards enhancing passenger comfort with their recent decision to reconfigure their aircraft seating. The airline has opted to reduce the total number of seats in its economy class while simultaneously increasing the seat pitch—a move designed to provide travelers with an even more comfortable experience. This change is particularly noteworthy because it defies the conventional trend in aviation where airlines often cram more seats onto planes to maximize profitability, typically at the expense of passenger comfort.
Changes in Aircraft Configuration
Specifically, the economy class seat pitch on aircraft HL8701 has increased from 31 inches to 33 inches. In tandem, the total number of seats has been reduced from 344 to 326, allowing for a more spacious environment. This reconfiguration process was concluded by mid-March 2026, just in time for passengers to start enjoying the enhanced seating arrangement from March 16 onward.
Air Premia has consistently prioritized passenger comfort, notably for those on long-haul flights. Earlier in 2024, two other aircraft were also reconfigured, with their seating reduced from 338 to 320 while expanding the seat pitch, reflecting the airline's commitment to passenger comfort.
Currently, Air Premia maintains a fleet of nine aircraft, with varying configurations including three aircraft with 309 seats, two with 320 seats, and others housing 326 and 344 seats. Impressively, all aircraft, disadvantageously configured with 344 seats, are now transitioning to provide an economy class seat pitch of 33 inches or more by the close of this year.
Additional Comfort Measures
In addition to expanding seat pitch, Air Premia has undertaken the installation of new cabin carpets made through advanced digital printing technology. This modernization not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the cabin but also aligns with the airline’s brand identity, creating a cohesive design environment. Furthermore, the new carpet is lighter than the previous version, contributing to a reduction in aircraft weight and supporting environmental sustainability through improved fuel efficiency.
An official from Air Premia stated, "We are dedicated to continuously enhancing seat space and the overall cabin atmosphere so that our passengers can enjoy a more comfortable journey, especially on long-haul routes. We are also aiming to introduce various service enhancements to further elevate the customer experience."
With these significant improvements, Air Premia clearly positions itself as a passenger-centric airline, balancing the dual objectives of comfort and efficiency. By redefining the standards of economy seating, Air Premia not only caters to the needs of modern travelers but also sets a benchmark in the industry for comfort-focused travel experiences. As they continue to innovate and prioritize passenger satisfaction, Air Premia remains committed to meeting the growing demands of air travel, ensuring their customers appreciate every aspect of their journey.
In a competitive market where airlines face pressure to maximize passenger numbers, Air Premia's focus on enhancing the travel experience through greater comfort may well inspire fellow carriers to reconsider their strategies and place greater emphasis on passenger needs.
