Citadel Credit Union Expands with New Branch in Hunting Park, Philadelphia, in 2027

Citadel Credit Union's Third Branch Opening in Hunting Park

Citadel Credit Union, a notable member-owned financial institution, has announced the signing of a lease for its upcoming branch in the Hunting Park area of North Philadelphia. This will be its third location in the city, with plans to officially open in 2027 at 133 W. Hunting Park Ave. This initiative underscores Citadel's strategy of expanding its reach through meaningful partnerships, particularly with organizations such as Esperanza, a significant faith-based nonprofit dedicated to serving the Latino community.

The new branch aims to go beyond traditional banking by becoming a community hub where residents can access essential financial services and education programs. Bill Brown, Citadel's president and CEO, emphasized the credit union's commitment to integration within the community, stating, "We've always believed the most important thing we can do is show up." With deep ties to the local neighborhood, Citadel aims to listen and understand the needs of the residents, working alongside them to foster economic growth.

This announcement marks a significant next step in Citadel’s expansion throughout Philadelphia, following the launch of its first branch in Overbrook Park in January 2026. The branch opening in May celebrated with a block party and a ribbon-cutting ceremony attracted numerous local stakeholders, demonstrating the enthusiasm around Citadel's mission. A second branch is also slated to open in Cedar Park, further solidifying Citadel’s presence in the region. Each of Citadel's branches functions as a vital resource center, tailored to the unique needs of each community it serves, including the notable Hunting Park neighborhood, where over 17,000 members currently reside.

Working alongside Esperanza, which has been serving the Hunting Park area for over 40 years, this branch will be built on a historic legacy of investment into the community. Esperanza has committed over $300 million to support local programs in the community, aiming to empower more than 35,000 low-income residents annually through various initiatives encompassing housing, workforce development, education, and economic sustainability. The partnership with Citadel signifies a shared vision focused on building a better future for the residents of Hunting Park.

The Hunting Park branch will provide a wide range of banking services, including personal and business banking, mortgage lending, and financial consultations. Furthermore, it will host financial literacy workshops, community events, and various neighborhood activities, aiming to enhance the community's financial knowledge and capabilities.

Councilmember Quetcy Lozada, representing the district, expressed her excitement about Citadel's commitment, noting that the new branch represents an investment in the community's future. Her years of collaboration with Esperanza have provided her with insight into what genuine support looks like from financial institutions, confirming Citadel's alignment with that vision.

Through this strategic expansion into Philadelphia, Citadel aims not only to broaden its services but also to deepen relationships with the communities it serves. This long-term commitment reflects its mission of providing financial access and building real connections across the neighborhoods in the Philadelphia region.
