Omya's Sustainable Innovations at K 2025: Transforming the Polymer Industry

Omya's Sustainable Innovations at K 2025

Omya, a global leader in essential minerals and specialty materials, is set to showcase its latest advancements at K 2025, the premier trade fair for plastics and rubber, in Düsseldorf. With a focus on high-performance polymers, recycling strategies, decarbonization, and lightweight fillers, Omya is committed to fostering a sustainable future in the polymer industry. Visitors can find Omya at Hall 6, Stand D75.

A New Era of Performance Polymers

One of the key highlights of Omya's presentation will be the introduction of the Omya Performance Polymers Distribution (OPPD), which was established earlier this year. OPPD merges Omya's global polymer distribution network with Distrupol, enabling the company to effectively cater to a dynamic international market with a comprehensive selection of high-performance polymers.

Advancing Decarbonization

Omya's innovative calcium carbonate solutions aim to reduce carbon footprints while enhancing the performance of plastic products. The company offers pre-consumer recyclates such as Omyaloop FC for general applications and Omya Smartfill 55-AV for technical materials, which are certified by Bureau Veritas and produced using renewable energy. These solutions can cut emissions by up to two-thirds, aligning with the EU sustainability guidelines. Marco Viel, Vice President of Polymers at Omya, stated, "Our mineral solutions diminish environmental impacts while simultaneously enhancing performance."

Lightweighting for Efficiency

Omya's grade of glass microspheres—Omyasphere 900—has been developed to significantly reduce product weight without compromising performance. These lightweight fillers are ideally suited for the automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries, providing improved flow characteristics, increased filler loading, as well as enhanced thermal and dielectric performance. They help support dimensional stability and are perfect for modern polymer and construction applications.

Innovations in Hygiene and Textile Markets

The new Omyafilm calcium carbonate advancements enable the creation of thinner, breathable films without sacrificing process stability or product quality. Additionally, Omyafiber is Omya's established calcium carbonate solution for the polymer fiber industry, with a specific focus on nonwoven, textile, and carpet applications. Already recognized in the market, Omyafiber not only offers material cost reductions and lower environmental impacts but also increasingly provides technical benefits that expand its application possibilities.

Comprehensive Solutions for Polymer Challenges

Beyond minerals, Omya partners with leading manufacturers to provide a wide range of specialty materials, including biobased additives and CO₂-reduced solutions. This integrated approach allows Omya to deliver tailored, high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of the plastics industry. With its global reach and extensive technical expertise, Omya is a dependable partner for innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

Invitation for Engagement

Omya invites all attendees to engage in constructive discussions about the future of the plastics industry. Discover more about Omya’s innovative offerings at K 2025 and how they can contribute to a sustainable future in polymer production.
