CrossBoundary Energy's Groundbreaking Kamoa Solar Project



CrossBoundary Energy (CBE) has recently celebrated the successful launch of its 233 MW Kamoa solar project located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Achieving full-capacity grid connection and commencing commercial operations just 16 months after the power purchase agreement was signed, this project marks a significant milestone for solar energy projects across Africa.

The Kamoa solar facility utilizes approximately 360,000 AIKO 655 W dual-glass modules in a 66-cell format, each boasting a remarkable mass-production efficiency of 24.2%. This means that each module can produce 30 W more power compared to other modules of similar design. Furthermore, the optimal temperature coefficient and hotspot suppression features of these solar panels ensure stable electricity generation and system safety, even in the challenging environmental conditions typical of mining regions in Africa, such as high temperatures and intense sunlight.

This project notably replaces traditional diesel generation, significantly mitigating energy-price volatility and minimizing the carbon footprint associated with copper production at the Kamoa facility. Consequently, it amplifies the competitiveness of Kamoa's products within an increasingly eco-conscious international market.

Long-term Impact on Energy Production



Over the expected lifecycle of 30 years, the Kamoa project is projected to generate an astounding 7.8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity.
