SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, the national organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Slovakia, is back with a permanent presence in Israel. After a hiatus, the organization has installed Gabriela Madrová as the head of its foreign representation in the country. This strategic move came into effect in May, where she will work directly from the Slovak Embassy in Tel Aviv. The initiative aims to enhance Slovakia's visibility as a top holiday destination, particularly targeting Israeli tourists.

Israel stands out as a significant source market for Slovak tourism, thanks to a considerable number of visitors from the region. According to Matej Fekete, the General Director of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, maintaining an active representation in Israel will further boost incoming tourism. He emphasized that Slovakia is recognized as a safe country that offers diverse options for both active and passive relaxation.

Slovakia is known for its stunning natural landscapes, featuring nearly 2,000 thermal springs and mineral sources which are particularly attractive for Israelis looking for a relaxing getaway. Fekete noted that the local thermal resorts provide beneficial water treatments, which appeal strongly to health-conscious tourists. Besides wellness opportunities, Slovakia also boasts UNESCO World Heritage sites, castles, mansions, and caves, all listed as must-see attractions.

Adding to the allure, Gabriela Madrová mentioned that the international travel guide LONELY PLANET has included Slovakia in its list of the top ten travel destinations for 2025. This recognition is likely to be a game changer in promoting Slovakia as an appealing option for travelers.

The brand’s revival was also highlighted at the IMTM 2025 festival, the largest tourism exhibition in the Mediterranean, where Slovak tourism offerings were actively showcased. This event took place in Tel Aviv in May and featured a comprehensive presentation of the diverse regions of Slovakia. Numerous Israeli travel agents, tour operators, and local guides attended the exposition, expressing significant interest in collaborating with Slovakian partners.

To facilitate this increased interest in travel between the two countries, direct flights between Tel Aviv and Slovakia are set to begin at the end of May, connecting the capitals Bratislava and Piešťany. Such developments are expected to streamline travel and make it more convenient for potential visitors.
