Exciting Summer Kids Campaign: Experience the Joy of Learning!
Toei Transportation, in collaboration with the Tokyo Sukusuku child-rearing information site, is thrilled to announce the return of its "Summer Kids Campaign" for the fourth consecutive year! This initiative is part of Tokyo's "Child Smile Movement," and it's designed to ignite children's intellectual curiosity through engaging experiences.
This year, we're introducing an exciting new element: a driving simulator room that will allow kids to experience what it's like to be a train operator. Alongside the popular guided tours of the Toei bus maintenance facility, children will get a hands-on understanding of the inner workings of public transportation.
Under the guidance of professional journalists, kids will take on the role of "Little Reporters" and engage in interviews with actual staff members. They’ll have the opportunity to create either picture diaries for younger participants or wall newspapers for older students, providing a comprehensive learning experience.
Event Overview
1. Become a Junior Train Operator!
In our driving simulator room, children will undergo professional training similar to real train operators. Participants can challenge themselves to operate the Toei subway while learning vital safety transportation principles. Afterward, with guidance from practicing journalists, younger children will create picture diaries while older students will compile wall newspapers. These creations will later be displayed at the Toei Shinjuku Line Ichigaya station.
Participation Criteria:
- - Open to elementary school students residing or studying in Tokyo (one guardian may accompany).
Number of Participants:
- - Lower grade: 10 pairs (20 children)
- - Higher grade: 10 pairs (20 children)
During high demand, participants will be selected by lottery.

2. Toei Bus Exploration Team: What Happens in a Maintenance Facility?
Experience what happens in a maintenance facility where professional mechanics inspect buses and learn about hydrogen-powered fuel cell buses. Participants will get an inside look at the workings of a real maintenance facility, and later, will create their own wall newspapers or picture diaries under the guidance of journalists, much like in the previous activity.
Participation Criteria:
- - Open to elementary school students residing or studying in Tokyo (one guardian may accompany).
Number of Participants:
- - Lower grade: 5 pairs (10 children)
