OnPoint Community Credit Union Achieves Prestigious Recognition as Oregon's Top Financial Services Firm in 2024

OnPoint Community Credit Union Recognized as Oregon's Most Admired Financial Services Company in 2024

OnPoint Community Credit Union has once again earned a significant accolade, being named the "Most Admired Company" in the Financial Services sector by the Portland Business Journal. This accolade, awarded for the second consecutive year, highlights OnPoint's steadfast dedication to its members and the communities it serves across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The Portland Business Journal conducts an annual survey involving nearly 4,000 CEOs from various industries throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington to identify and rank companies based on several critical factors, including innovation, branding, management quality, community support, and the overall quality of products and services. This comprehensive evaluation is a testament to OnPoint’s successful strategies and unwavering commitment to excellence and community engagement.

Rob Stuart, the President and CEO of OnPoint, expressed gratitude for this honor, stating, “This recognition truly belongs to our dedicated employees, loyal members, and community partners. Their commitment to uplifting our communities drives everything we do, and we’re honored to work together to create a long-lasting positive impact across Oregon and Southwest Washington.”

Record-Breaking Contributions to Community

In addition to this prestigious recognition, OnPoint Community Credit Union also broke its annual giving record for the fifth straight year in 2024. The organization donated an impressive $3.8 million to 331 nonprofit organizations focusing on various areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, education, community development, environmental conservation, and youth services.

Part of this generous giving was channeled through OnPoint’s Green Horizons initiative, aimed at supporting local environmentally focused organizations. Notable contributions included $25,000 each to The Nature Conservancy in Oregon, Friends of Trees, McKenzie River Trust, and Columbia Water Slough, all underscoring OnPoint's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Furthermore, OnPoint collaborates with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines to award grants from the Member Impact Fund. This year, they provided a substantial $600,000 to essential organizations such as Habitat for Humanity Portland Region, Hacienda CDC, AGE+, and The Freshwater Trust, focusing on promoting affordable housing and environmental initiatives throughout the state.

Strengthening Educational Initiatives

Beyond financial contributions, OnPoint is equally committed to enhancing educational opportunities for youth and vulnerable communities. The credit union has strengthened partnerships with organizations like Youth Villages Oregon, Lemonade Day Greater Vancouver, and FinAbility to provide financial education resources that empower the next generation. Their ongoing commitment to education is further illustrated by their support for local students and educators.

OnPoint renewed its partnerships with Portland State University Athletics and the Oregon Athletics Touchdown for Teachers, and also provided an impressive $233,000 in awards and scholarships through its Prize for Excellence in Education program. This initiative, in collaboration with the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA), continues to celebrate and recognize significant accomplishments within the education sector across the state.

Empowering Local Entrepreneurs

As part of its comprehensive community support initiatives, OnPoint has actively expanded opportunities for local entrepreneurs and aspiring banking professionals. Their new partnership with Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO) aims to assist Portland-area entrepreneurs in growing their customer base through initiatives like the MESO Makers Market, empowered by OnPoint.

Additionally, OnPoint established an annual $4,000 scholarship at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business to foster the development of students pursuing careers in commercial banking, thus helping to cultivate the next generation of banking leaders.
