Internship Opportunities at SDGs Japan

SDGs Japan, a prominent network of over 120 civil society organizations, is seeking dynamic student interns for the upcoming 2026 fiscal year. As part of our mission to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we have been engaged in advocacy, awareness campaigns, and public relations since our inception in 2016. With just over four years remaining until the SDGs deadline, we aim to strengthen our efforts and would love to have enthusiastic interns join our ranks.

Research Internship - A Gateway to Advocacy

The role of a research intern involves closely monitoring developments related to the SDGs from the United Nations and the Japanese government. Key tasks include:

• - Collecting information on meetings, policies, and decision-making processes regarding the SDGs.
• - Organizing and summarizing the gathered data.
• - Providing insights to our 125 member organizations to support their advocacy initiatives.

This internship is ideal for inquisitive individuals who can’t resist asking “Why?” and enjoy organizing information into digestible formats. We welcome students from all majors and grades who possess a strong curiosity and a desire to make a difference.

Public Relations Internship - Amplify Our Voice

If you're passionate about telling impactful stories and engaging with communities, the public relations internship is tailored for you. Responsibilities include:

• - Supporting social media management and owned media initiatives.
• - Assisting in the creation of press releases and promotional materials.
• - Participating in event planning and promotional campaigns.
• - Conducting effectiveness assessments and data analysis.

Ideal candidates are those interested in using words and creativity to inspire others, with a love for social media and content creation. No specific major requirements exist; if you have a passion for communication, we want you on our team.

Work Environment and Details

Both internship positions will be based in our office in Iidabashi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Some remote work options may be available, but we encourage in-office collaboration with staff:

• - Duration: Minimum of three months (long-term positions are highly welcomed).
• - Workdays: 1-3 days per week, approximately 4 hours each session (with consideration for class and examination periods).
• - Compensation: Unpaid, but we offer reimbursement for transportation costs (limited to 700 yen one-way).

Experience and Opportunities

Interns will gain hands-on experience by working alongside professionals at the forefront of the SDGs movement. You can expect:

• - The chance to see your reports and communications directly impacting policies and social initiatives.
• - Close interaction with NGOs, government, and corporations domestically and internationally.
