Terra Charge and DMM EV ON Form Strategic Partnership
In a significant move towards expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure,
Terra Charge Inc. and
DMM.com LLC have announced a strategic partnership. This alliance aims to further promote the accessibility of EV charging services throughout Japan.
Background and Goals of the Partnership
Terra Charge launched its EV charging infrastructure initiative in April 2022, quickly establishing itself in various sectors, including residential complexes, hotels, commercial properties, and public facilities. As of March 2025, Terra Charge expects to surpass
15,000 EV charging points across the country, contributing to the total installation of approximately
68,000 chargers in Japan. By understanding the needs of both facilities and users, Terra Charge has positioned itself as a key player in developing an expansive network of EV charging stations.
DMM has similarly made strides in the EV charging space with its service called
DMM EV ON. With around
3,000 charging points across commercial, hospitality, and public venues, DMM aims to enhance customer engagement and stimulate local businesses by encouraging EV owners to visit their facilities.
As part of a broader national initiative, the Japanese government has set an ambitious target to install
300,000 EV charging stations by 2030. This ambition reflects a commitment to creating a sustainable society that can compete on the global stage. To achieve this, collaboration among different charging infrastructure providers is essential to ensure that everyone can charge EVs easily and intuitively.
The new partnership between Terra Charge and DMM EV ON is set to enhance the largest EV charging infrastructure network in Japan. By combining their strengths, both companies aim to accelerate the proliferation of EV charging stations, improving overall service offerings and accessibility.
Key Highlights of the Partnership
- - Collaborative efforts to expand the installation of EV charging points across Japan.
- - Future interoperability of user charging stations, allowing customers to use chargers from either service platform.
User Benefits
Moving forward, users of both the Terra Charge and DMM EV ON applications will be able to access and use newly installed charging stations interchangeably. This synergy ensures a more user-friendly experience, making EV charging faster and simpler.
Note: Some charging stations may not be included in the interoperability agreement.
Future Vision
This partnership is not merely about expanding infrastructure; it represents a vital first step towards creating a more convenient future for EV users. With a solid partnership in place, Terra Charge and DMM EV ON will focus on enhancing charging conditions while also exploring new services and collaborative opportunities. Looking ahead, the goal is to establish innovative and comfortable environments that cater to EV users, thereby fostering a sustainable mobility society.
