MD Logistics LLC, a subsidiary of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC., has successfully completed the renovation of its largest logistics base in Plainfield, Indiana. Completed in July, this renovation enables the entire site—spanning approximately 37,000 square meters—to operate under strict cGMP compliance dedicated to pharmaceutical products.

Indiana, recognized as a critical logistics hub in the Midwest, is not only home to numerous pharmaceutical and life sciences companies but also has experienced a significant rise in demand for temperature-controlled, compliant logistics solutions. In response, MD Logistics has undertaken a comprehensive phased renovation of its facilities to cater to this growing market requirement.

The facility consists of a North Area, refurbished in September 2024 with an area of roughly 18,500 square meters, which operates as a cGMP-compliant pharmaceutical site. This North Area has been designed with two temperature zones: a constant-temperature zone maintained between 15-25°C, and a refrigerated zone that remains between 2-8°C. With the recent upgrades to the South Area, another similarly-sized space of 18,500 square meters, the full facility is now a dedicated pharmaceutical logistics center.

The South Area renovation introduced a constant-temperature environment set between 15-25°C. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, and various health-related products.
