San Manuel Journey of Empowerment: Full Acquisition of Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort Unveiled

San Manuel Investment Authority Enhances Luxury Portfolio

The economic landscape of Southern California is witnessing a notable shift as the San Manuel Investment Authority (SMIA) announced the complete acquisition of the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point, California. This move not only emphasizes the tribe's commitment to luxury hospitality but also reflects their strategic investment approach. The Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, renowned for its consistent accolades including the AAA Five-Diamond Award and the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Award, is a cornerstone establishment within the tribe's growing portfolio.

A Vision for Growth

Lynn Valbuena, Chairwoman of the Tribe, expressed her enthusiasm upon achieving full ownership of the resort. “We are excited to add Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach to our investment portfolio,” she stated. “This beautiful destination harmonizes perfectly with our long-term plans to diversify and invest in premium properties.”

The SMIA had originally acquired a partial ownership of Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach in 2023, which allowed guests from their Yaamava' and Palms properties to experience the warm hospitality and stunning vistas of this iconic beachfront destination. The acquisition now solidifies San Manuel's role as a key player in luxury hospitality.

Franco Famularo, President and Chief Investment Officer of Ohana Real Estate Investors, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to have previously managed the resort, stating, “We are excited for its next phase of ownership under the San Manuel Investment Authority’s leadership.”

Commitment to Excellence

In terms of operations, Hilton will continue to oversee the resort to ensure that the highest standards of service are upheld. This consistency aims to reassure guests of the quality and care they can expect when visiting Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach. Similarly, Troon will remain in charge of golf operations at the renowned Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Guests can look forward to the same luxurious offerings that have made the resort famous. Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach boasts 400 elegant guest rooms and suites, an expansive culinary portfolio, a Waldorf Astoria Spa & Salon, three lavish pools, and access to a private beach club. Golf enthusiasts can also enjoy the exquisite Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed championship course, which has become a hallmark of the resort experience. Furthermore, the property includes over 120,000 square feet of event space, making it an ideal venue for various gatherings and conferences.

Embracing Heritage and Future

San Manuel Nation, historically referred to as the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, is rooted in a rich culture and has now reclaimed its ancestral name as Yuhaaviatam. The tribe stands as a testament to their resilient spirit and dedication to improving the lives of their community members through robust economic initiatives.

The Yuhaaviatam are known for their commitment to comprehensive development, emphasizing social, economic, and cultural advancements. This achievement marks a pivotal moment for the tribe, as they continue to bridge their heritage with modern investments, ensuring economic growth for their community.

A Look Ahead

As the San Manuel Investment Authority integrates Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort into its operations, both the tribe and its guests can anticipate a rejuvenated and enriched experience that embodies luxury and leisure. The tribe's commitment to excellence will not only enhance its offerings but further solidify its status in the competitive landscape of luxury hospitality. With this acquisition, the San Manuel Nation reaffirms its place in history while looking toward a promising future.
