In January 2027, Sumoto’s Castle Town District was appointed as a "Special District for Promoting the Use of Vacant Houses," a designation that aims to enhance local living conditions while encouraging migration and residency.

Additionally, from FY2027, Sumoto City will participate in the Cabinet Office's initiative aimed at promoting work-style and workplace reforms, aligning with national efforts to create a region that attracts young people and women.
