Revitalizing the Art Scene in Higashikagawa City with Reo Ataka's Exhibition

Revitalizing Higashikagawa City Through Art

In a bold move to breathe new life into the potentially disappearing municipality of Higashikagawa City in Kagawa Prefecture, the exhibition titled "Pinch" by artist Reo Ataka is set to launch on April 26, 2025. This initiative is part of a larger project to activate local shopping streets, utilizing vacant storefronts as vibrant exhibition spaces to showcase artwork to the community.

The primary goal of this exhibition is to rediscover and enhance local charm and culture through the powerful medium of art. Ataka believes that art can attract people and create new values for the shopping district. He envisions this space will foster encounters and exchanges that deepen community ties, helping to construct a shared future.

The exhibition isn’t just a visual feast; it also enhances the experience with food offerings, which will allow visitors to indulge in culinary delights as they engage with the art. Ataka hopes that the unique combination of art and culinary experiences will forge connections among residents and visitors alike.
