International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Hosts the 33rd World Congress in Berlin with Live Surgery Workshop

Welcome to the 33rd World Congress of the ISHRS

From October 23 to 25, 2025, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) will convene its 33rd World Congress at the historic venue in Berlin, Germany. The conference promises to unveil groundbreaking surgical and non-surgical therapies targeting various forms of hair loss. Following the sessions on the main dates, a hands-on live surgery workshop will be held on October 26, allowing participants to observe cutting-edge techniques in real-time.

Rising Demand for Hair Restoration Expertise

This year's congress is a testament to the growing demand for hair restoration services, with some of the world's leading specialists presenting their findings and techniques. The ISHRS's recent survey shows that the average number of patients treated for hair loss per doctor has surged by 20% since 2021. Reflectively, there's a noticeable trend towards younger patients, as 95% of first-timers seeking hair restoration are between the ages of 20 and 35.

Over 800 surgeons and surgical assistants are expected to attend, highlighting the critical nature of ongoing education in this field. The congress will feature a new “Masterclass” section in its programming, allowing two prominent speakers to delve deeply into specific topics using a blend of interactive components, videos, and slides to optimize learning outcomes.

“We have received an unprecedented number of abstract submissions for this meeting. The program is robust, focusing on advanced training in both surgical and non-surgical procedures,” says Dr. Sam Lam, the program chair.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Real-time Translation

In an innovative step, Dr. Ricardo Mejia, ISHRS president, introduced the first world congress employing real-time AI-based translation in over 60 languages, ensuring that a global audience can engage fully with the material presented.

“As an international society comprising 25 member societies worldwide, it's essential that we accommodate the diverse languages of our international members so that they can benefit from the same educational experience,” states Dr. Mejia.
