Join the Lupus Foundation Walk to End Lupus Now® This Fall and Make a Difference
Overview of the Walk to End Lupus Now® Events
Beginning in September, communities across the United States will come together to participate in the Walk to End Lupus Now® events organized by the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). For over three decades, this initiative has united those impacted by lupus, empowering participants to transform their experiences into impactful actions.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues and organs, resulting in inflammation and damage to various parts of the body. Its symptoms can include rashes, joint pain, extreme fatigue, and cognitive issues, profoundly affecting the daily lives of approximately 1.5 million Americans, with women disproportionately affected at 90%. The disease also has a higher prevalence among Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Asian/Pacific Islander individuals.
The Importance of Community Engagement
This upcoming fall, around 35 community events will be held nationwide, fostering a sense of connection among participants of all ages. These walks aim to educate attendees about lupus and offer vital resources and support. They serve as powerful platforms for raising funds and generating awareness for the LFA's mission to conquer this challenging disease. Each step taken is a stride toward progress and shows that no one should face lupus alone.
