From July 25 to August 10, KOMEHYO SHIBUYA invites art enthusiasts to experience "Rotten Donuts at KOMEHYO SHIBUYA", an immersive art event crafted for those seeking to rediscover their personal tastes and inspirations. Themed around exploration and unexpected encounters with art, this event encourages visitors to delve deeper into their senses and awaken newfound preferences that they might not have previously recognized.

What is Rotten Donuts?

Organized by KOMEHYO and synergetically designed by ubies, Rotten Donuts is an innovative media project focusing on "cross-border" and "co-creation". This year marks the seventh edition, situated in the vibrant cultural hub of Shibuya. On the first floor, attendees can engage in ART Digging, where they can browse through art pieces as if they were digging through records. The fourth floor will showcase SHIBUYA PRIVATE, a fresh partnership with the illustrator agency vision track, featuring unique individual exhibitions by four artists.

Highlights of the Event

The event spans across the first and fourth floors, providing distinct experiences:

1. ART Digging

On the first floor, participants can immerse themselves in art at the ART Digging zone. Experience the joy of selecting personal art pieces within an environment that stimulates creativity and self-exploration. More than 1,100 works by 102 talented artists will be available for attendees to discover, ranging from sketches and drafts to completed pieces that resonate deeply with their creators' essence.

2. ART Animation

Get ready to be drawn into the mesmerizing realm of art through a special art animation created for the event by visual artist yooolk. This installation will illuminate KOMEHYO SHIBUYA's entrance, setting the tone for an inspiring journey and stimulating the senses right from the start.

3. SHIBUYA PRIVATE "Art Fitting" & "Art Viewing"

KOMEHYO’s fitting rooms are transformed into intimate galleries where visitors can interact directly with the artists' works. Each individual can leisurely experience these pieces in private spaces as if they are trying on clothes, fostering a personal connection to the art. Artists will also be present on July 26 for live interactions, offering a unique opportunity to engage and discuss their creations.

4. My Donuts Giving

To commemorate the experiences and favorites encountered, a special initiative called My Donuts Giving will allow visitors to write messages on ‘My Donuts Cards’ as they interact with the works. Sharing a moment of connection with the creators can lead to delightful surprises, including participating in the ART Lottery for a chance to win exclusive art stickers.

5. Live Nigaoe Drawing

On July 26, acclaimed illustrator KOTOKO will delight attendees with live portrait sketches. This hands-on activity allows visitors to take home not just a portrait, but a tangible memory of their time spent engaging with creativity.
