Conservation International Welcomes New CEO and Interim Board Chair to Drive Nature Conservation Efforts
Conservation International's New Leadership
On February 11, 2026, Conservation International took a significant step forward in its leadership journey, announcing the appointment of Dr. Sebastian Troëng as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Lisa Jackson as the Interim Chair of the Board of Directors. This leadership transition marks a new chapter for the organization, which is known for its commitment to conserving nature for the benefit of humanity.
Dr. Troëng, with over thirty years of global conservation leadership, is set to enhance CI's goals in addressing critical issues related to climate change, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development. He has an extensive background in the organization, having held senior executive positions for nearly two decades, where he played a vital role in shaping CI’s strategies and expanding its impact on oceans, forests, and other vital ecosystems.
Replacing the interim CEO role of Dr. Daniela Raik, who adeptly led the organization during a transitional phase, Troëng's appointment is seen as a return home, as he strives to generate significant impact for both nature and people via Conservation International's mission.
