Emirates Logistics Expands Into Kenya
Emirates Logistics, prominent for its impressive supply chain and logistics operations in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, has recently announced its significant expansion into Kenya. This move marks a new chapter for the company as it establishes a modern facility in Tatu City SEZ, hailed as Africa’s foremost new city, just a short drive from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
In an official statement, Steven van der Vliet, the Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Logistics, expressed the company's excitement about this expansion: "We are proud to strengthen our presence in Kenya with our expansion to Tatu City, reinforcing Emirates Logistics' global footprint of comprehensive logistics capabilities. This facility is a strategic step in our commitment to offering top-tier infrastructure in key growth markets. Being centrally located in Kenya's economic hub allows us to provide tailored logistics solutions for our diverse clientele."
The construction of this state-of-the-art facility is set to commence within this year. Upon completion, it will further enhance Emirates Logistics’ broad operational reach, which currently spans across 15 countries and includes an extensive global network of agents. With over two decades of experience in international logistics, the company manages owned warehouses, offices, and transport fleets in various countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and now, Kenya.
George Kapanadze, Group CFO of Rendeavour, the developer behind Tatu City, stated, "Tatu City warmly welcomes Emirates Logistics to its new home in Kenya, where it will flourish in a conducive business environment. As a mixed-use Special Economic Zone, Tatu City specializes in attracting foreign direct investment to Kenya, providing the essential services and amenities that companies like Emirates Logistics require, such as housing, retail, and educational infrastructures."
Rendeavour is recognized as Africa's largest new city builder, with monumental developments exceeding $5 billion across the continent. Their projects span several countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, and Zambia, and feature over 200 businesses. Tatu City, specifically, hosts around 100 businesses and serves approximately 25,000 residents daily.
Within Tatu City, companies enjoy a host of incentives aimed at fostering a thriving business environment. These benefits include a significantly reduced corporate tax rate of 10% for the first 10 years, increasing to 15% for the next decade, compared to the standard 30% in other areas. Additionally, businesses in Tatu City can benefit from VAT exemptions on goods and services, along with favorable import duty and stamp duty terms.
The establishment of Emirates Logistics in Tatu City not only strengthens their position in the logistics sector but also contributes to the overall development of the region by creating jobs and enhancing service delivery for various sectors.
This strategic expansion into Kenya highlights Emirates Logistics' vision to remain at the forefront of the logistics industry, catering to the evolving needs of their clients throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. As the facility takes shape in Tatu City, it is anticipated to become a hub for logistics innovation and excellence, solidifying Emirates Logistics' role as a key player in the African logistics landscape.
