In recent years, various local governments across Japan have actively adopted cultural policies to revitalize their regions. However, many face challenges, such as difficulty in demonstrating the outcomes of cultural initiatives and significant gaps in knowledge and understanding among local officials and community members. To address these issues, C&R Co., Ltd. has launched a seminar series aimed at local government employees and creative professionals who seek to propose content initiatives to municipalities.
This upcoming free online seminar titled "Art, Content, and Regional Revitalization Series vol. 15: The Challenge of 'Music City Kawasaki' – Image Strategy from an Industrial City," will take place on October 17, 2025. It aims to inspire and educate attendees about successful methods for utilizing art and cultural content as a means for regional promotion. Led by independent director Mikio Sugiura, the series features diverse guests from the front lines of art and culture who share insights into the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of cultural policies while considering the effects of regional revitalization.
For this 15th session, we are excited to welcome Akiko Maeda, Deputy Secretary of the 'Music City Kawasaki' Promotion Council and Secretary of the Kawasaki Jazz Executive Committee as a guest speaker. Akiko will delve into the proactive and diverse efforts that have successfully integrated 'Music City Kawasaki' into the community's identity while transforming the city's image from its industrial roots.
Participants can look forward to case studies presented by the guest, showcasing how various regional initiatives were implemented—along with discussions to enrich understanding. Specific seminar details include:
