SEKIRARA CARD Presents the 'Breakup Museum'
Set to open from April 17 to April 20, 2026, in Daikanyama, Tokyo, SEKIRARA CARD is launching its first experiential exhibition event, the 'Breakup Museum', coinciding with 'Breakup Day' on April 20. The initiative aims to transform the concept of heartbreak into a more positive experience that everyone can overcome.
Background and Motivation
This remarkable undertaking was inspired by over 200 heartfelt letters addressed to former lovers that SEKIRARA CARD received. The brand, known for its communication cards that foster deeper relationships between couples, families, and individuals, encourages dialogues through prompts designed to spark candid conversations that are often left unsaid. With a collection of eight card designs tailored for different emotional states and relationship dynamics, SEKIRARA CARD has captivated over 100,000 users globally within just two years since its establishment in November 2023. The brand has also garnered significant attention on social media, with over 60 million views on Instagram reels and a follower count nearing 50,000.
Recent studies show a growing trend of reduced romantic relationships, particularly among individuals in their twenties. Approximately 50% of unmarried men and 30% of unmarried women in their twenties have never dated, reflecting a significant change in societal attitudes towards love. Last year, the release of the 'Breakup Card', meant to assist individuals in dealing with the emotional fallout of breakups, received overwhelming praise. Many users shared experiences expressing confusion post-breakup and a desire for tools to navigate these tough times, demonstrating the necessity for supportive resources during heartache.
About the Breakup Museum
The 'Breakup Museum' is not merely a forum for exhibiting heartache; rather, it serves as a celebratory space for those who have loved deeply. This pioneering event promotes reflection, healing, and reconnection with one's personal experiences. Through an array of content, including the latest domestic research on heartbreak, insights from experts on emotional care after breakups, and perspectives from participants in reality dating shows, the event seeks to redefine the conception of heartbreak. It also features letters from approximately 200 SEKIRARA CARD users addressed to their former partners, questioning the prevalent negative societal views about breakups.
Participants will also have the opportunity to write their own letters and submit them into a 'Breakup Post' at the venue. This initiative aims to help attendees perceive their breakup experiences in a more constructive light, providing them the tools and insights necessary to heal and move forward.
We invite everyone to come and reflect on their cherished memories of love while experiencing this unique event.
