Celebrating Personal Narratives: The Photoback Award 2026

On July 29, 2026, Content Works Corporation, known for its photo book creation service Photoback, proudly announced the winners of the Photoback Award 2026, a photo book contest showcasing individual stories and passions. This year, hundreds of submissions were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges, including renowned photographer Asada Masashi. The competition's grand prize was awarded to Fumi for her photo book titled "To My Past Self."

Upcoming Exhibition - Photoback Award 2026

From August 28 to 30, 2026, the winning entries will be exhibited at HAGISO, a cultural complex located in Yanaka, Tokyo. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the awarded photo books up close. In addition, a unique workshop will allow participants to create their own photo book using images from their smartphones, highlighting the intimate connection between photography and personal experiences.

A Meaningful Theme

This year's contest theme, "Collecting What We Love," invited submissions that encompass cherished hobbies, beloved family moments, stunning travel landscapes, and everyday collections that bring joy. The selected photo books are not evaluated merely on technical aspects but also on their narrative strength and heartfelt expression. Asada Masashi, author Minori Kai, and model Miyu Kotani served as the judges, focusing on the emotional resonance and craftsmanship found within each submission.

Fumi's book, "To My Past Self," beautifully encapsulates this year’s theme, incorporating profound personal reflections that resonate deeply with readers. The careful curation of photographs allowed for an immersive experience, making the project stand out amid a plethora of creative works.
