Exciting Drill Results from the Columba Project
Kootenay Silver Inc. (TSXV: KTN) has recently revealed stunning results from its drilling activities at the Columba high-grade silver project located in Chihuahua, Mexico. The results come from eleven new drill holes which targeted multiple veins and a newly identified area known as La Preciosa. These findings showcase substantial silver grades and highlight the project's ongoing potential.
Overview of Results
The drilling program focused on the F and I veins, while also exploring the new target area of La Preciosa. The most remarkable intercepts include:
- Hole CDH-24-186 yielded an impressive 522 grams per tonne (gpt) silver over 2.33 meters, along with 0.46% lead and 0.8% zinc.
- Additional intervals in this hole included multiple high-grade veins capturing upwards of 607 gpt silver over a meter.
- Hole CDH-24-188 performed exceptionally well, with significant intercepts yielding 551 gpt silver over 3.73 meters and additional noteworthy zones contributing substantial lead and zinc content.
The drilling at the La Preciosa area is particularly interesting as it has shown increasing grades with depth - a pattern that indicates the potential for high-grade mineralization at greater depths. The current exploration focuses on understanding this structure better and marking it as a lucrative area for future drilling.
Mineralization Highlights
The mineralization across the project appears typical of high-grade epithermal veins found in Mexico, similar in nature and caliber to other notable districts known for substantial silver or gold resources. The Columba Project features a surface mapping extent of around 4 kilometers by 3 kilometers and drilling has confirmed mineralization over a vertical extent of at least 350 meters. This deep-rooted potential showcases that the veins are indicative of intermediate sulfidation veins, with expectations of continuing mineralization down to vertical extent exceeding 700 meters.
Expert Insights
James McDonald, President and CEO of Kootenay Silver, expressed optimism about the recent discoveries, stating, “The results have not only filled in the gaps with previous drill holes but have demonstrated that grades are matching or exceeding our expectations. The I-Vein and La Preciosa structures show great promise for future high-grade discoveries.
