Thomsen holds a PhD in Performative Learning Environments from Aalborg University, Denmark. His academic career includes teaching as an Assistant Professor and currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), alongside being a Research Affiliate at MIT. His reputation as a globally recognized learning expert has led him to advise prestigious organizations like the United Nations and the World Economic Forum on educational strategy.
