The 2026 Tech Fair in Neyagawa: A Hands-On Experience for Kids
The Tech Fair in Neyagawa, hosted by Osaka Electro-Communication University, is back for its 17th year, continuing its mission of making science fun and accessible for local children. Set to take place on August 2, 2026, this annual event invites elementary and middle school students to engage directly with science and technology through an array of hands-on activities.
In its inception back in 2008, the fair aimed to spark joy and curiosity in science among the younger audience, and thanks to the support from local educational committees, participation has consistently grown over the years. This year's event promises around 30 unique programs designed to inspire kids' inquisitive minds while fostering a sense of community involvement. These initiatives specifically cater to students from Neyagawa and surrounding areas.
Among this year's highlights is the participation of Osaka Economic University, marking a significant step in university collaboration to enhance educational experiences. Last year, Osaka Electro-Communication University participated in an event hosted by Osaka Economic University, laying the groundwork for this reciprocal engagement. As a result, students will benefit from a broader spectrum of learning experiences than ever before.
The programs for the fair are not just educational but also reflect cutting-edge research and themes. Topics range from artificial intelligence (AI) to virtual reality (VR), environmental chemistry, digital games, and electronics projects, as well as medical-related experiences. Students from the university will actively participate in managing and guiding the activities, promoting not only regional contribution but also practical skill development.
Additionally, activities like "Experience Hospital Work" and interactive sessions showcasing the "Library Great War" will fortify children's understanding of various career paths and the relevance of science in daily life. Designed to be engaging and informative, the goal of the Tech Fair is clear: to cultivate a new generation enthusiastic not just about science, but also about contributing to their communities through knowledge.
With the ongoing support of local education departments, including Neyagawa's City Board of Education, Shijonawate City, and others, this year’s fair promises to be a milestone in the quest to merge education and community service. It’s an invaluable opportunity for kids to explore science in a dynamic environment that encourages inquiry and creativity.
The event will run in two sessions: the morning session from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the afternoon session from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. While general reservations are closed, local attendees and their families are urged to take part in this enriching experience that nurtures potential and highlights the joys of science.
The Tech Fair stands as a testament to Osaka Electro-Communication University's commitment to acting as a community-driven institution ready to inspire and educate the leaders of tomorrow.
