Sharjah Airport Partners with e& UAE to Offer Free SIM Cards

In an innovative move aimed at enhancing the visitor experience, the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) has announced its collaboration with e& UAE to provide free SIM cards to tourists arriving at Sharjah Airport. This initiative, which began on October 15, 2025, aims to facilitate seamless connectivity for travelers right from the moment they set foot in the UAE.

Upon arrival, tourists will receive a SIM card that includes 10 GB of data, valid for 24 hours. This provision allows visitors to access essential applications such as navigation maps, ride-hailing services, digital payment platforms, messaging, and other online services, effectively streamlining their travel experience.

His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, the President of Sharjah Airport Authority, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, emphasizing the importance of providing enhanced digital services. “We are pleased to collaborate with e& UAE to ensure that tourists arriving at Sharjah Airport have Internet services available to them immediately,” he stated. “This not only creates a more comfortable travel experience but also illustrates our commitment to forging effective partnerships with governmental entities to improve service quality and offer added value to visitors.”

Al Midfa also highlighted how this initiative underscores Sharjah’s dedication to creating a welcoming environment that leaves a positive impression, reinforcing its status as a preferred destination for both tourism and business.

Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer of e& UAE, also commented on the benefits of the free SIM card service, stating, “The free SIM allows visitors to stay connected from their arrival, enhancing convenience and simplifying the travel experience. Travelers can manage their mobility and communication needs swiftly, even before collecting their luggage, which significantly enhances their digital journey and provides them with a comfortable start to explore the UAE and its unique attractions.”

As tourism continues to grow, with Sharjah Airport receiving over 9.1 million passengers in the first half of 2025 alone—a 10% increase compared to the same period last year—this collaboration represents a significant step forward. It establishes a modern first point of contact for travelers, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in digital identity and communications and exemplifying the collaboration between public and private sectors to meet national priorities.

This initiative not only showcases the commitment of the Sharjah Airport Authority and e& UAE to facilitate improved travel experiences but also aligns with broader efforts to define a more connected and informed traveler segment. With the integration of technology and customer service, tourists can now enjoy their time in Sharjah more effectively without the hassle of finding local SIM services or navigating connectivity issues upon arrival.

In conclusion, the partnership between Sharjah Airport and e& UAE heralds a new era of convenience in travel, setting a standard for how airports can cater to the needs of their patrons even before they officially enter the country. This modernization aligns with the UAE's overarching vision of becoming a global hub for tourism and innovation, making the arrival experience seamless and memorable for every visitor.
