CenterWell Secures Approval to Acquire The Villages Health Assets Amid Restructuring Efforts
Court's Approval: A Significant Step for CenterWell and The Villages Health
In a pivotal development for healthcare services in Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida has granted authorization for CenterWell Senior Primary Care to acquire the assets of The Villages Health (TVH). This landmark decision follows TVH's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in early July 2025, a necessary restructuring move aimed at ensuring the longevity and efficiency of their healthcare services. CenterWell, recognized as America's largest senior-focused primary care provider, is expected to finalize this acquisition in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending customary closing conditions.
Bob Trinh, the Chief Executive Officer of TVH, expressed enthusiasm about the transaction, emphasizing that CenterWell's patient-centric approach closely matches TVH's operational ethos. This alignment suggests a smooth transition for patients and staff alike, ensuring continuity of care during this significant organizational change.
Upon the completion of this transaction, all assets, comprising eight primary care centers and two specialty care centers, will integrate into CenterWell, serving over 55,000 patients primarily in The Villages and surrounding regions. This merger is particularly significant for TVH patients, many of whom rely on Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, as they will retain access to their current insurance providers post-acquisition, thanks to CenterWell's flexible payment structure.
Dr. Sanjay Shetty, President of CenterWell, echoed the sentiments of his counterpart, stressing the importance of maintaining a personalized and integrated healthcare approach for TVH's patients. The vision surrounding this acquisition is to cultivate a healthcare environment where personalized care meets large-scale operational efficiency, enabling patients to receive high-quality medical attention without disruption.
Dr. Elliot Sussman, the Board Chairman and one of the founders of TVH, assured the community of the commitment to uphold the standards of care that have defined TVH since its inception. He affirmed that under CenterWell's management, residents would continue to enjoy exemplary healthcare experiences built on trust and continuity.
