Home State Health and Jordan Valley Set New Standard for Foster Care in Missouri

A New Era for Foster Care in Missouri

In an inspiring move aimed at improving the health outcomes of children in the foster care system, Home State Health has launched its inaugural Foster Care Center of Excellence (FCCoE) in partnership with Jordan Valley Community Health Center. This initiative, which officially opened its doors on October 8, 2025, is a pivotal step toward providing comprehensive and coordinated healthcare that addresses the unique needs of vulnerable children and youth in Missouri.

Located in Springfield, the FCCoE is designed as a central hub where foster children can receive trauma-informed care that not only addresses their physical health but also their emotional and behavioral needs. This collaborative effort is part of a broader strategy in the state to ensure that those in the foster care system have holistic support that fosters their long-term well-being and stability.

The Vision Behind the Center

Shawn Furey, Interim President and CEO of Home State Health, expressed pride in this community-driven endeavor. He highlighted that the FCCoE embodies their commitment to transform health outcomes, noting, “The Foster Care Center of Excellence at Jordan Valley is a true community collaboration focused on ensuring children in foster care receive the holistic, compassionate care they deserve.” This collaboration harmonizes the missions of both organizations: to provide quality care that aligns with the needs of underserved populations.
