In New York State specifically, over 3.2 million adults—approximately one in five—live with a mental health condition, with nearly 783,000 facing serious mental illnesses that significantly disrupt their daily lives. Insufficient access to coordinated care, economic instability, and housing insecurity heighten the risk of unmet behavioral health needs for many individuals.
