Taiwan Expo Japan 2026: A Showcase of Innovation



From July 15 to 17, 2026, Shinjuku in Tokyo played host to the Taiwan Expo Japan 2026, an event showcasing Taiwan's latest advancements in AI, semiconductors, and smart technologies. With more than 22,000 attendees over three days, the expo exceeded expectations, highlighting Taiwan’s innovative prowess under the theme "Innovate for Tomorrow."

The Taiwan Trade Center organized this event, featuring 154 Taiwanese companies. From AI-driven applications in everyday life to cutting-edge technology in energy, healthcare, and smart cities, attendees had the chance to experience Taiwan's technological advancements firsthand.

A Flourishing Event with High Expectations



The turnout of 22,616 visitors made the event vibrant, reflecting a significant interest in Taiwan's innovations. The expected business impact for participating companies is estimated at 156.41 million USD, demonstrating the event's effectiveness in fostering economic ties.

The layout of the expo included eight pavilions focusing on five main themes: AI Smart Manufacturing, Energy and Circular Economy, Smart Cities, Smart Healthcare, and Food & Lifestyle. The variety and relevance of these themes catered to diverse interests, allowing visitors to enjoy not just technology, but also authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

In the AI Smart Manufacturing pavilion, products showcased next-generation manufacturing solutions utilizing advanced AI technologies. Attendees marveled at the integration of semiconductors, a pride of Taiwan. Many expressed their surprise at how AI is applied in healthcare settings, with one visitor remarking, "I couldn’t believe how far AI has come in practical applications for medical care!" In the Smart Cities pavilion, attendees envisioned the future of Japan's green society by engaging with innovative projects from Taiwan.

The Energy and Circular Economy pavilion presented advanced solutions focusing on "energy creation," "energy storage," and "energy circulation," proposing a sustainable future through collaboration between Taiwan and Japan.

Business Networking Takes Center Stage



Beyond exhibition and experience, the expo also aimed to enhance business collaborations through a series of meetings. Numerous discussions took place across various sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and energy. Well-known manufacturers and trading companies participated, demonstrating significant interest in Taiwanese AI solutions and technologies, paving the way for strengthened Taiwan-Japan collaborations.

Tim from Aeolus Robotics, who participated in the AI Smart Manufacturing pavilion, shared his experience: "This event provided us with an invaluable opportunity to engage directly with various companies and attendees. We received numerous inquiries about our security robots from approximately 15 companies involved in real estate and building maintenance, resulting in meaningful outcomes for future business negotiations."

On the other hand, a visitor remarked, "I encountered the cutting-edge technologies of Taiwan, including AI and advanced manufacturing. I always thought of Taiwan as a tourist destination famous for its cuisine, but now I truly understand its capabilities in leading global technology! The attention to detail in the event's design and giveaways was also impressive."

Taiwanese and Japanese Collaboration on the Rise



On the first day of the expo, the Taiwan-Japan AI Technology Forum was held at the Okura Tokyo. Approximately 350 participants from related companies and industry groups gathered to discuss AI and semiconductor cooperation between Taiwan and Japan. The rapid growth of AI technology is transforming industries, and building a resilient and stable supply chain between Taiwan and Japan is crucial for economic security and a technological strategy.

Dr. Chiu Kuo-Chuan from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) emphasized, "Japan holds a strong market share in semiconductor materials, and it is vital to bolster the resilience of the semiconductor industry through mutual complementarity with Taiwan."

Furthermore, Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Wang Mei-Hua, expressed confidence that strengthening ties between Taiwan and Japan could lead to technological innovations serving as a new engine for industrial development and progress in regional governance.
