Lexar Unveils Cutting-Edge AI Storage Solutions at COMPUTEX 2026
Lexar, a leading name in data storage solutions, showcased its latest advancements at COMPUTEX 2026, highlighting the evolution of its AI Storage Core vision. The company presented innovative storage solutions tailored for the increasing demand for local workloads in AI environments, AI PCs, edge systems, and high-performance computing.
As the shift in AI workloads transitions from cloud to local devices, storage is no longer a passive element; it now plays an essential role in model loading, data movement, latency reduction, and overall sustained performance. Recognizing this pivotal change, Lexar's AI Storage Core is crafted to fulfill these needs through a unique blend of packaging, chip hardware, intelligent scheduling, and system-level optimization.
Innovative Technology From Lexar
At the heart of Lexar's offering is its integrated hardware-software solution, built around Longsys' self-developed Gen5 controller, or SPU (Storage Processing Unit), and intelligent scheduling technologies. This cutting-edge SPU, constructed using an advanced 5nm process and featuring a DRAM-less architecture, enhances supply stability while delivering exemplary performance in the face of today's DRAM constraints. Moreover, Lexar's intelligent scheduling engine has been meticulously optimized for edge AI inference, tackling issues related to large Mixture of Experts (MoE) models, expansive parameter sizes, and I/O latency that could hinder inference smoothness.
By employing smart workload scheduling, predictive prefetch algorithms, and optimized cache management, the platform significantly boosts AI storage efficiency, consequently reducing the necessary DRAM capacity by approximately 40%. This advancement allows storage to actively enhance local AI performance, rather than merely serving as a repository for data.
A Diverse Portfolio of High-Performance Storage Devices
Extending beyond its AI Storage Core capabilities, Lexar introduced a diversity of high-performance storage solutions designed specifically for AI-enabled PCs, creator workflows, and compact edge devices. Among its standout products is the upcoming AI-grade Gen5 SSD and AI-grade Gen5 Storage Stick prototypes, engineered to achieve bandwidth rates of up to 11GB/s and designed for flexible storage expansion in compact AI devices.
One notable offering is the NM1090 PRO 8TB PCIe Gen5 SSD. This model is adeptly designed for AI PCs, creative professionals, and users seeking both significant capacity and bandwidth. It promises impressive read/write speeds of up to 14,400 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively, accommodating large-scale local AI models and high-resolution creative assets as well as enabling multiple AI applications to operate concurrently on-device.
Additionally, Lexar introduced the ARES RGB DDR5 128GB (64GBx2) 6400 C32 and 6000 C32 modules, designed to meet the high-performance demands of AI PCs and other systems. With substantial capacity and bandwidth, ARES RGB DDR5 is well-suited for deploying local AI models, handling generative AI tasks, and facilitating multitasking in creative production and gaming environments.
Collaborations and Innovative AI Ecosystem
At COMPUTEX 2026, Lexar highlighted its collaboration with ASUS, focusing on key scenarios such as AI PC exploration, handheld gaming, and high-performance gaming memory. For AI PC exploration, Lexar showcased its AI-grade Gen4 SSD paired with the ASUS NUC 15 Pro Mini PC, illustrating how AI-aware storage can enhance compact AI environments. The two companies are engaging in ongoing discussions about future AI storage formats, including concepts for more adaptable AI-grade storage sticks.
On the gaming front, Lexar's PLAY X PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD was displayed in tandem with the ROG XBOX ALLY, emphasizing its performance advantages for portable gaming systems. The PLAY X offers compatibility with both M.2 2230 and M.2 2280 configurations, ensuring read speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and write speeds of 6,500 MB/s. This product will soon be available through various retail partners across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Supported by over three decades of storage expertise and Longsys' strength in areas like controller design, firmware, and more, Lexar is extending its reach from traditional storage products into AI-aware solutions that cater to the next generation of edge computing. Looking forward, Lexar aims to further expand its AI Storage Core ecosystem through collaborations with technology and platform partners, adapting to the evolving landscape of AI device deployment.
Lexar invites media representatives, industry partners, and visitors at COMPUTEX 2026 to explore their innovative AI storage and high-performance memory solutions at booth No. R1006, Hall 2, 4F, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from June 2-5.
