The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) held on November 10th, 2024, in Shanghai has been marked as a historic event in fostering international trade and collaboration. This year, the expo saw a remarkable total of USD 80.01 billion in tentative deals, signifying a 2% increase from the previous edition. This outcome underscores the event's significance as a global platform for businesses and nations alike to come together and explore opportunities.

A Vibrant Global Participation



The CIIE is recognized as a vital venue for global cooperation, which was reflected this year as 77 countries and international organizations joined to exhibit their unique cultures, national identities, and cutting-edge technologies. Attendees experienced a barrage of engaging activities, with over 200 events organized at various booths throughout the exhibition. The enterprise segment featured a participation of 3,496 companies from 129 countries and regions. Notably, 1,585 of these participants hailed from 104 countries partaking in the Belt and Road Initiative, bolstering connectivity and collaboration across regions.

Showcasing Innovation and Debut Products



Innovations have always been a highlight of the CIIE, and the 2024 edition was no exception. The expo's Innovation Incubation Special Section showcased 360 innovative projects from 34 nations, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups in their growth journeys. Furthermore, multinational corporations unveiled 450 new products, services, and technologies, which included over 100 worldwide launches, alongside Asia and China debuts that sparked interest and excitement among attendees.

Engaging Dialogues at the Hongqiao International Economic Forum



The Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) emerged as a critical forum for international discourse during the CIIE. It attracted more than 8,600 registrations from around the globe, bringing together 300 leading experts from various fields, including politics, business, and academia. During this year's forum, discussions highlighted trending topics in the global economy, fostering informed dialogue and collaboration while launching the World Openness Report 2024 and the corresponding World Openness Index.

With its successful conclusion, the 7th CIIE affirmed its pivotal role in enhancing global cooperation and trade partnerships. As preparations for the 8th CIIE already commence, the expo is poised to further expand opportunities for international trade, welcoming participation from diverse countries and enterprises.
