Introduction to Tokyo University's Metaverse Engineering Faculty
The Tokyo University Metaverse Engineering Faculty, established in September 2022, is committed to providing innovative educational opportunities within the fields of engineering and information technology. As part of this initiative, the faculty has recently launched the application process for its Spring 2026 Junior Courses, which will run from June to September 2026. This program aims to democratize access to engineering education, encouraging learners from diverse backgrounds to develop their skills and consider career pathways in this exciting domain.
Offering Free Courses
To date, the Metaverse Engineering Faculty has successfully conducted over 120 courses and served more than 54,000 participants. Feedback from these learners indicates that the courses have positively impacted their educational journeys; many have remarked on how the program has inspired their career choices by sparking interest in previously unknown subjects. For example, one participant commented, "I was able to grapple with topics that aren’t typically covered in school, and the expert instructors made complex ideas easy to understand." The faculty aspires to create an inclusive learning environment where everyone—regardless of age, gender, or background—can engage with engineering and information sciences.
The application period for the Spring 2026 courses is currently open for four specific workshops:
Course 1: Introduction to AI Agents
This particularly popular course now centers on the theme of AI agents. Participants will learn about these autonomous agents that can plan and execute tasks once given objectives. The course will cover essential concepts, practical applications, and include demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of generative AI agents. It’s designed for everyone, making it perfect for those new to the world of AI, as well as previous attendees wishing to expand their knowledge.
