Ampace Redefines UPS Battery Role in AI Data Centers at Datacloud Global Congress 2026

Ampace at Datacloud Global Congress 2026

This week, Ampace is showcasing its cutting-edge UPS lithium-ion battery solutions specifically designed for the energy demands of modern AI data center infrastructures at the Datacloud Global Congress 2026, held in Cannes, France.

The European data center market is under considerable pressure, with total capacity projected to exceed 10 GW by the end of 2026. This represents a record amount, but still falls short of meeting the energy needs driven by AI advancements. As next-generation AI implementations reach rack densities of over 100 kW, this creates load fluctuations on the order of milliseconds, which conventional UPS infrastructures are not equipped to handle.

Ampace's flagship model, the PU200, plays a crucial role in helping data centers manage increasingly dynamic AI workloads while ensuring a high standard of safety, reliability, and flexible deployment. The system is built on Ampace's proprietary Semi-Solid-State cell architecture, which results in a 58% reduction in gas formation during thermal runaway compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, making it suitable for long-term operation in demanding data center environments. This technology aligns with the growing need in Europe for safer infrastructure with increased longevity that supports both operational efficiency and sustainability goals.

The comprehensive PU series offers functionality ranging from multi-hour energy storage to battery backup response times of under 90 seconds, designed to fulfill the diverse power requirements emerging from the deployment of AI data centers. This approach reflects a growing consensus within the industry that batteries should play a more active role in the energy systems of the AI era. As AI workloads become ever more dynamic, energy storage is evolving beyond traditional backup functions to support load balancing, infrastructure resiliency, and improved efficiency in utilizing existing UPS systems.

At the event, on June 3rd from 12:20 PM to 1:00 PM, James Li, General Manager of the UPS, Datacenter, and Telecom division at Ampace, will participate in a panel discussion on the topic, "Is AC or DC Better for the Needs of Tomorrow's High-Density Data Centers?" Li will be discussing Ampace's global strategy in critical power supply and energy storage-based solutions for end-users.
