ChemTox Celebrates the Opening of North Hoju LiB Testing Center



ChemTox Inc., based in Ota City, Tokyo, proudly announced the completion of its new North Hoju LiB Testing Center in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. To commemorate this achievement, the company organized a special seminar on October 6, 2025, at Belle Classic Kofu.

The seminar featured esteemed speakers including Koji Segawa, a professor at the University of Tokyo's Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology, Hideo Tanimoto, President of Kyocera Corporation, Keihiko Sakamoto, Vice President of ChemTox, and Haruhiko Kurimoto, the leader of the PV testing and evaluation team. They shared insights into the latest advancements in perovskite solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, and semi-solid batteries.

An overwhelming response saw attendance surpass the initial capacity of 100, reaching 130 participants. The event fostered vibrant exchanges among industry professionals, researchers, and engineers, creating an effective platform for networking and collaboration.

Key Presentations



1. New Initiatives in Lithium-Ion Batteries
Vice President Keihiko Sakamoto introduced the evaluation framework at the newly established center and discussed future outlooks concerning lithium-ion batteries.

2. Kyocera's Strategy for Semi-Solid Batteries
President Hideo Tanimoto elaborated on the development trajectory of the world's first clay-type lithium-ion storage battery, "Enerezza," outlining its future potential.

3. Innovative Measurement Methods for Perovskite Solar Cells
Using a new measurement software, Haruhiko Kurimoto presented efficient output measurement methods utilizing an IV sweeping technique, along with various testing results.

Special Lecture: The Future of Perovskite Solar Cells
Professor Koji Segawa provided a visionary discussion on the role of next-generation solar cells in shaping Japan's energy policy and achieving carbon neutrality.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Details


On the following day, October 7, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the newly completed North Hoju LiB Testing Center in Takakawa Town, Hokuto City. The ceremony commenced at 10:00 AM, starting with a groundbreaking festival, followed by greetings from notable guests, including member of the House of Representatives Shinichi Nakaya, Professor Koji Segawa, Hokuto City Mayor Kunihiko Ohsiba, and Vice President of Yamanashi University Masaru Ichikawa.

After the formal addresses, attendees enjoyed a meal and participated in a guided tour of the facility starting at 1:00 PM. The tour showcased the most advanced testing equipment while discussing initiatives around battery safety evaluations and future developments.

About North Hoju LiB Testing Center


The North Hoju LiB Testing Center is a state-of-the-art facility in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, dedicated to evaluating the performance and safety of lithium-ion batteries. The center spans approximately 1,000 square meters, featuring a 270 square meter building that houses charging and discharging testing equipment capable of handling up to 720A, over 100 channels for multi-channel testing, and a fireproof, explosion-proof concrete laboratory suitable for 800Wh class devices.

The center is equipped to evaluate next-generation batteries characterized by diversification and high output, including solid-state batteries, and is compliant with international safety and performance certifications. ChemTox is also engaged in analyzing malfunctions and deterioration factors to provide swift and precise testing services.

In addition, the facility reinforces support for research and development stages while contributing to the cultivation of local engineering talent and promotion of regional employment.

The ambition remains to evolve into a prominent testing and research hub addressing not only solar cells but also plastic materials and other areas of innovation.
