Brightray Science Inc. to Launch a Groundbreaking AI Data Center in Macao
In a significant move towards advancing artificial intelligence infrastructure, Brightray Science Inc., a subsidiary of BUUU Group Limited, has signed a Prefabricated Module Sales Framework Agreement for a new AI data center project planned in Coloane, Macao. This ambitious project aims for a substantial IT capacity of approximately 40MW, aligning perfectly with the growing demands of AI technologies.
Project Overview
The development, located at Rua das Albizias, will utilize Brightray's innovative FPD (Fully Prefabricated Design) technology. The five-storey facility is designed to be constructed using prefabricated modules, which are set to enhance the overall efficiency of the construction process. Delivery of the completed data center is anticipated in the third quarter of 2027.
One of the major advantages of the prefabricated approach is that it allows for over 90% of the construction to occur in a factory setting. This method significantly reduces on-site work, translating to a decrease in noise, dust, and other environmental impacts typically associated with traditional construction. As a result, the Brightray data center project promises not only to be efficient but also environmentally friendly.
Prefabricated Module Benefits
With Brightray's prefabricated solution, the construction can proceed with foundational work while modules are being manufactured off-site, thus optimizing time and resources. Upon completion, these factory-finished modules will be transported and assembled on-site, minimizing disruptions and construction-related risks.
The design incorporates advanced cooling systems, water cooling technology, and aims for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of below 1.35 under full load, indicating a commitment to sustainability and efficiency in energy use. Additionally, the building is designed to accommodate various IT specifications, including fully air-cooled and liquid-cooled deployments.
Economic Impact on Macao
The introduction of this AI data center is poised to significantly impact Macao's digital economy, providing necessary infrastructure to fuel advancements in AI research and application. Brightray's founder, Mr. Bin Wang, emphasized that this facility marks a vital step toward expanding computing capacity within the limited space Macao offers. By utilizing factory-prefabricated construction techniques, the project not only aims to meet current tech demands but also sets a standard for future developments in the region.
Once completed, this project will serve as a showcase for multi-storey data centers built on industrialized construction principles, paving the way for future projects in Macao's growing tech landscape.
Collaboration and Future Prospects
Although the agreement signed does not obligate either party to purchase modules immediately, it establishes a framework for collaboration as Brightray aims to secure a tenant for the project. If conditions are met by the stipulated deadline, a more detailed sales contract will proceed, furthering the project’s development.
Brightray's proactive approach to modular data center solutions is already evident in its operations across the region, including a current project in Johor, Malaysia, which boasts 70MW of operational capacity and plans for an additional 50MW.
As the global demand for AI capabilities grows, Brightray's commitment to prefabricated, efficient, and sustainable data centers positions it as an industry leader prepared to meet the needs of a fast-evolving technological landscape. This project in Macao not only signifies Brightray’s growth trajectory but also reflects the increasing recognition of the importance of AI infrastructure within the region and beyond.
