PIAZZA Partners with Koganei City to Enhance Community Engagement

PIAZZA Inc., led by CEO Kohei Yano, has officially signed a partnership agreement with Koganei City, Tokyo, represented by Mayor Toru Shirai. This partnership aims to foster connections among residents and promote community activities through the use of the community app, PIAZZA. With this initiative, both parties strive to create a dynamic platform that facilitates intergenerational connections among the residents. This collaboration marks the 80th instance of local government adoption of PIAZZA nationwide, and the 16th in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Background of the Collaboration

Koganei City has been undergoing several redevelopment projects, particularly around Musashi-Koganei Station, which necessitates a framework that encourages continual gatherings and movement within the newly established spaces. Despite these advancements, the aging community and the shortage of active participants in local initiatives pose significant challenges. Thus, enhancing the participation of younger generations, families with children, and new residents has become a crucial focus.

PIAZZA serves as a community platform that allows residents to share and exchange local information without any costs. By accumulating knowledge about local activities, PIAZZA not only informs residents but also encourages them to engage in local events. This effort resulted in the formal agreement with Koganei City.

With a mission to build a supportive community, PIAZZA collaborates with 79 municipalities across Japan and operates in over 110 regions, focusing on revitalizing local communities through a blend of digital and physical interactions. Their commitment aids sustainable urban development.

During the signing ceremony held on July 2, 2026, both leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration. Mayor Toru Shirai highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to tackle the increasingly complex local challenges. He stated, "It is vital that we strengthen the connections among residents and enhance community vitality through partnerships between the public and private sectors. We look forward to seeing how the PIAZZA platform can facilitate new encounters and collaboration."
