Generative AI Experience Among New Employees in 2025



A recent survey conducted by the Sanno University Institute of Administration has revealed some interesting trends about the integration of Generative AI into the experiences of new employees entering the workforce in 2025. The survey, which was conducted from March 26 to April 10 of this year, gathered responses from 369 new hires who will begin their careers in 2025. Here are some key findings from the study:

High Adoption Rate of Generative AI



Approximately 78.3% of the respondents indicated that they have utilized Generative AI in various capacities. This marks a substantial increase from last year, showcasing that this technology has significantly permeated the lives of recent graduates entering the job market. The most common applications included:

  • - Search and Information Gathering: 59.3% of respondents reported using Generative AI for these purposes, a remarkable increase of 28.0 percentage points compared to the previous year.
  • - Learning and Research: 39.8% utilized AI tools for academic purposes, marking a 16.7 percentage point increase.
  • - Content Creation: 30.6% engaged Generative AI for writing assistance, up by 14.8 points.

Notably, the percentage of new employees who reported having no experience with Generative AI dropped sharply from 49.7% to just 21.7%. This indicates a transformative shift in the technological landscape for new workers within just one year.

Application During Job Hunting



When asked if they had employed Generative AI during their job search, over one-third (36.9%) affirmed its usage. Breakdown of the responses reveals:
  • - Creating Cover Letters and Resumes: 22.0% used AI for writing support, an increase from last year's 8.9%.
  • - Interview Preparation: 12.7% utilized it for mock interviews and preparations, also showing considerable growth.
  • - Research on Companies: 12.5% engaged AI for gathering corporate information.

However, it is essential to point out that despite these encouraging figures, 63.1% of respondents stated that they did not use Generative AI during their job search, although this is a notable decrease from 85.6% last year. These statistics suggest that while there is growing enthusiasm for Generative AI in job searching, obstacles still remain for many candidates.

Future Workplace Integration



Looking forward to their professional roles, more than 90% (92.4%) of new employees expressed a positive attitude towards leveraging Generative AI in their work. The study highlights several key intentions among the respondents:
  • - Operational Support: 42.0% want to use AI as a support tool in their tasks, reflecting an increase from 30.6% last year.
  • - Adaptive Usage: 40.5% said they would consider AI as needed, a decrease from previous years, indicating a shift towards more proactive phone usage.
  • - Proactive Utilization: 20.9% aspire to actively use Generative AI to create efficiencies and generate new value.

Altogether, the combined percentage of those categorized as practical and proactive users stands at 62.9%, reflecting a significant increase from 16.7% compared to prior surveys. These results confirm that a considerable portion of new employees plans to actively incorporate Generative AI within their workplace practices.

In summary, the findings from this survey highlight a remarkable evolution in attitudes toward Generative AI among upcoming professionals. As technology continues to advance, new employees exhibit an increasing openness and readiness to embrace AI tools as integral components of their careers.
